A Family Photoshoot at Kennall Vale, Falmouth, Cornwall

At Kennall Vale Nature Reserve, the woodland opens into something soft and quietly immersive. Light filters through the trees, catching on moving water and new leaves, the whole valley holding that early spring feeling — not quite warm, but full of promise. We spent the morning here for a family photoshoot with the Porter family — Ella and Chris, with their two children, Remy (6) and Ozzy (3).

This kind of family photography — unhurried, outdoors, and lightly guided — creates space for something more honest to emerge.

Woodland has its own rhythm. It slows everything down. There’s space to wander, to pause, to follow whatever captures attention in that moment. And in that slowing, something honest begins to surface. These are the years that shift quietly. Where one still reaches to be carried, and the other is already stretching out into independence.Photographs like these hold that in-between. Not just how it looked, but how it felt to be here — together, in this season of life.

For families looking for family photoshoots in Falmouth and across Cornwall, sessions like this — outdoors, unhurried, and connected to place — are where the most meaningful moments unfold.  If you’re thinking about your own family photography session, we’d love to hear from you.
